Pilgrimage to Tirumala Tirupati
Pilgrimages in India are frequented by the devotees from all across the globe. In south, the state of Andhra Pradesh houses a shrine that is much revered by the pilgrims. Devotees could be seen patiently waiting for their turn to come for the holy darshan of Tirupati Balaji. Many pujas are performed in the temple complex at various timings.
Tirumala is deemed to be the abode of God Venkateswara. It is among the eight places that are much honored for Lord Vishnu. The hills, on which the shrine of Venkateswara is located, are regarded as the most sacred among the Vaishnava Divya Desams. The reverberating melodious Govinda chant is very common here which will soak you so much so in spirituality that even you will start chnating the holy name of Lord Venkateswara.
Legends of Tirumala Tirupati
The legends hold that the site was initially an Adi Varaha Kshetra (the region of Adi Varaha). After seeking permission from Sri Varahaswami, Lord Venkateswara came down to settle here in Kalyug. So the shrine is located on the highest of the seven hills of the Nallamalai ranges, Venkatam Hill or Venkatadri. One of the saint of Vaishnan sect named Ramanujacharya is believed to have come to the shrine on his knees. Thus, the temple has references in many holy Hindu scriptures and its origin is said to be in Vaishnavism.
Darshan at Tirumala Tirupati
The pilgrims from all who come from length and breadth of world to the holy shrine of Tirupati, are very keen to have holy darshan of the deity God. There are two kinds of Darshan at Titupati.
Sarvdarshanam: It denoted “darshan for all” The darshan timings are different on all weekdays. On an average, 18 hours are allocated for sarvdarshanam and if the influx of pilgrims is very heavy then 20 hours are dedicate for the darshan.
Special Darshan: The pilgrims secure their darshan tickets before hand. The time of darshan is mentioned on the ticket bands they are issued. According to the time the devotees queue up in PPC the temple complex and wait for the their turn. They can rest, eat, drink, refresh, watch temple seva at T,V installed in the halls they are asked to wait in. One by one the cell is opened and the pilgrims then merge with Sarvadarsanam queue at Bangaruvakili. The main benefit of having ticket darshan is that the waiting time is much shorter as compared to Sarvdarashan where even weeks are spent waiting for the turn. The tickets for special ticket costs Rs. 40 and Rs. 50 only.
