Bipasha Basu turned down Shilpa Shetty’s offer to star in her first production not because of work commitments but due to little sister Shamita.
“Initially Shilpa was gung-ho about the production house and the film, but due to her expanding spa chain Iosis, she was hardly paying any attention to the film and the other details. That’s when Shamita took over the reins of the film and made her own changes to the overall concept of the film, this however bought differences between the two sisters. Bipasha didn’t want to get caught between the two sisters and was not comfortable with the much inexperienced Shamita taking over the film’s reins, so she made her getaway.”
Shilpa Shetty and Bipasha Basu became fast friends before appearing together on Farah Khan's show Tere Mere Beach Mein, where the topic was independent daughters. Still friendship and business have a very thin lining on which Shamita thought of treading over.
Frankly speaking, who wouldn’t make a beeline if Shamita were to be directing or acting? She’s riding on elder sis’s money, but isn’t the mastermind behind Shilpa’success a certain Mr. Kundra? Sometimes you should just leave the thinking to the smart people!
